雖然台灣政府提出的《東海和平倡議》（East China Sea Peace Initiative）是和平解決釣魚台爭議的方法之一，但現實主義為主流的國際關係並不會對此多所關注。事實上，台灣與中國大陸的關係並非國際關係，雙方具有血濃於水的關係，如果兩岸能秉持“主權重疊、治權共享”的概念攜手合作，則美國才可能正視兩岸對於釣魚台的主權，台、中、美的戰略三角關係才能在實力平衡下，真正維持三邊家族型的穩定，為兩岸和平發展開創更好的發展環境。
