Session 2.Global Non-Proliferation and the Role of the International Community
At the present day,the establishment of various international regulations and regimes have reflected the efforts of the international community on the prevention of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) such as nuclear,missiles,biological& chemical weapons.Yet,the possibility of WMD development,transfer,and usage by some countries and terrorists is a critical&potential threat to the security of the international community,and the strategic balance in the region.Furthermore, nuclear tests&missile launch by North Korea,and usage of chemical weapons by Syrian government are greatly affecting the international community.
In this session, the following will be discussed:
- Analyzing the current status of WMD development and proliferation at a time of increasing possibility of chemical weapon usage.
- Finding the problems of international cooperation in order to prevent the proliferation of WMD.
- Identifying the ways for international cooperation, and the responsibilities & roles of Asia-Pacific countries for global non-proliferation. |
