Seminar on Chinese Teaching For Chinese Children in the UK
**************************************************
Hi everyone,
In order to help Chinese children to learn and develop their understanding of Chinese language and culture so that they can fit in more easily when they return to China, the Chinese Education sub-group of the CSSA. UK, with the support of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy, intends to hold a one-day seminar at the end of Novermber to discuss questions and problems in Chinese teaching to Chinese children in the UK.
More specifically, we will discuss the following questions:
(1) how to organize Chinese teaching more efficiently;
(2) what kind of teaching materials are being used or are to be recommended;
(3) how to monitor the student progress (ie exam the students periodically and at the end of each term)
(4) how to finance the Chinese teaching.
A representative from each of the Mandarin Chinese schools or Mandarin Chinese class attached to other (Chinese) schools from your local CSSA is invited to the meeting. Further details of the date and place will be anounced in due course. We will cover travel expenses. (To reduce the travel expenses, please book your coach tickets well in advance, that is, upon our next announcement of the time and place. )
To facilitate our discussion, we have designed a simple questionnaire in the following. Please, each chairperson of the CSSA or head teacher of the Chinese School, take some time and complete it. Your completion will not only facilitate your (representative's) participation at the discussion, but also help us organise the meeting in a more efficient way. PLEASE send the completed questionnaire with the name of the participant from your local association as soon as possible to the addresses at the end of the message.
We thank you in advance.
